Voter Registration
Guidelines
- You must be a citizen of the United States.
- You must be 18 years old by the time of the General Election
- You must be a resident of your precinct for 30 days prior to the general election.
- You do not declare a party affiliation at the time of registration.
- No other person may register for you.
How Do I Register to Vote?
You can register to vote in Jasper County at one of the following:
- Clerk's office in Rensselaer
- License Branch in DeMotte and Rensselaer
When Can I Register to Vote?
You can register anytime however, registration closes 30 days prior to every election.

Absentee Voting
Absentee voting generally starts 30 days prior to the election.
Absentee voting is available for anyone meeting the following requirements:
- Absent from the county on Election Day (College student, military, or will be out of town)
- Confined person or caring for a confined person
- Have disabilities
- At least 65 years of age
- Official election duties away from your polling place.
- Scheduled to work the entire 12 hours at your regular employment.
You may vote absentee by one of the following methods:
- Come to the Clerk's office
- By mail
- By traveling board
